Kay Kay and the Rays

Big Bad Girl

Kay Kay Greenwade has released a new CD with her band Kay Kay and The Rays entitled "Big Bad Girl". Big Bad Girl was produced by multiple Grammy and W.C.Handy award winner Jim Gaines. Big Bad Girl charted No. 10 on the October 2003 Living Blues radio airplay report and is being played on over 150 stations. Big Bad Girl charted at No. 22 in November 2003. It was the No. 1 blues Pick to Click on XM Satellite radio for November. Previous release, Texas Justice, received rave reviews and charted at no. 15 in May 2002 for U.S. blues radio airplay.

Kay Kay and The Rays appeared at the W. C. Handy Blues Festival as well as other festivals in 2003 and will appear at festivals in 2004 on the East and West Coast. Kay Kay and the Rays made a 5,000 mile round trip tour from Texas to Florida and back twice in the past year and plan a West Coast tour and Chicago area tour in early 2004.

"Kay Kay and The Rays have an approach of their own, a singer worth hearing, and a message; Big Bad Girl is funk, jazz, soul and blues for the thinking person... the show-stopping closer 'South Side of the Tracks' indicates the Rays would be a potent live act."
Tom Hyslop - Blues Revue

"Thoughtful words, brawny horns, searing guitar leads...With her emotional range, lyric eloquence, and vocal dexterity, buttressed by the wide-ranging musical expressiveness of her band, Kay Kay Greenwade has established herself as a leading light of contemporary blues."
Living Blues - David Whiteis
